Product Review: Lancome Visionnaire Advanced skin corrector

Lancome you’ve done it again…

I recently purchased this new serum from Lancome after reading endless fabulous reviews.  My skin is my most important accessory and I strive to keep it looking young and fresh.  After one week of applying this serum under my nightly moisturizer, my skin feels better than it’s ever felt.  It instantly shrinks pores and eliminates fine lines, leaving your skin looking youthful and bright.

What it is:
An antiaging skin corrector for more beautiful skin.

What it is formulated to do:
More than a wrinkle-corrector, this product is capable of fundamentally re-creating more beautiful skin. The first skincare product with LR 2412, a molecule designed to propel through skin layers, it triggers a cascading series of micro-transformations along its path. On the surface, wrinkles and pores are visibly corrected. Imperfections like signs of UV damage and acne marks appear diminished.

What else you need to know:
This product is non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic, and dermatologist-tested for safety. It is internationally awarded, clinically proven on multiple ethnicities, and a bestselling fast-acting serum. Much more than a wrinkle-corrector, this is the first skincare capable of fundamentally re-creating more beautiful skin and the first skincare with LR 2412, a molecule designed to propel through skin layers.

Research results:
In a consumer evaluation of women, tempted by hyaluronic acid, laser, or chemical peeling:
– 1 out of 2 women tempted by a cosmetic procedure decided to postpone it

Based on self-assessment after 1 week of use:
– 79% of women tested saw a smoother skin texture

Based on a clinical study:
– Wrinkles and pores were visibly corrected; imperfections like signs of UV damage and acne marks appeared diminished

Product Review: CORALista by Benefit

I purchased Benefit’s CORALista last week… I’ve had my eye on it for a while, but I was waiting until my Chanel blush bit the dust.  When you spend $40 dollars on blush, you want to get every last morsel out of that darn compact.  It’s a lightly warmed up coral-pink powder blush that works well to give you a soft, summery flush.  I’m always drawn to the packaging of Benefit products and this one stood out to me.  It comes complete with a brush, my only complaint is that the brush is sitting on top of the blush and tends to leave indentations in the product so I store mine separately.

What’s really fantastic about this shade of blush is it goes on extremely natural–you get a soft, glowy sheen with just a touch of coral color. It’ll instantly brighten up your complexion, and it is such a great product for summer when less is definitely more. There is a bit of a floral fragrance that’ll sneak out of the box each time you open it, so if you’re sensitive to fragrance, that might be a reason to check it out before you purchase.

Product Review: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer is a super-concentrated and pigmented liquid concealer combined with goji berry and haloxyl to help erase the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. It has a unique tube design in that when you twist the top, product will be released in the round, squishy applicator sponge.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer is available in (6) shades: Fair, Light, Medium, Honey, Neutralizer and Brightener. Although the neutralizer shade can be used on it’s own, it’s also recommended for extreme dark circles to apply underneath your regular concealer for maximum coverage. The brightener shade is pink based used to brighten up areas of the eyes and face.

I’ve had a hard time finding an under eye concealer that has all day coverage and doesn’t end up caking in my eye creases.  Even after setting some concealers with powder, I still end up with a result that I’m not 100% happy with.  However, after spending hundreds of dollars on fancy brands and packaging… I decided to take some advice from an online tutorial and try this product out.  I was really happy with the all day coverage and easy application of this concealer.  I went with a shade that was a few shades lighter than the shade I use on the rest of my face.  The sponge applicator is great for evenly dispensing the product and I use a beauty blender sponge to work the concealer into the under eye area.  Overall I am very happy with the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a little under eye lift.

Product review: Revlon colorburst matte balm

 Revlon has done it again…

I am in love with this new matte balm by Revlon.  Not only is it affordable and long-lasting, it comes in nine fabulous shades that are all perfect for summer.  I’m a huge lipstick girl… I always feel naked if I leave the house without it.  Call me old-fashioned.  I’ve tried everything under the sun, from expensive to cheap to shimmer to bold.  Lipstick is one of those things that has to feel right, taste right and look exceptional.  There is nothing worse than finding the perfect shade and discovering later that it tastes like a chemical you would store under your bathroom sink.  This lip colour is minty, matte, affordable, long-lasting and fabulous.  What more do you need?

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm offers velvety color with balm-like moisture. Infused with a Triple Butter Complex of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter. This retractable chubby crayon requires no sharpener.

Product Review: Clinique superfine brow liner

Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows is an automatic, self-sharpening precision pencil used to fill in brows.  Pencils are great for getting precision down to a fine art–you can really define the brow and its shape with this product.  I started using this product about 6 months ago and I love the colour match and the natural finish.  My only complaint is that it runs out relatively quickly… I can get about a month and a half out of each one. The upswing is the wearing time for Superfine Liner for Brows is incredible — It lasts hours on me!

  • Convenient pencil creates perfectly defined, natural-looking brows. Ultra-fine tip fills even the smallest gaps with precise, hair-like strokes. Automatically self-sharpens; glides on without skipping or tugging. Colour lasts all day.

Product Review: Avéne Cleanance Spot Treatment stick

I’ve been using the Avene line for about 12 years now and I would never consider changing my routine.  I use the cleanser and the daytime moisturizer, as well as the cold cream and thermal water in the summer months.  This is a new product from the line that I noticed while wandering through a drugstore in Paris.  Avene is formulated in Paris, this may be the reason why they get the newest products first… before the rest of the world.

I was intrigued by the fact that I hadn’t seen this ‘magic wand’ in Toronto so I bought two.  I am not typically one to break out often but when I do it is a sad sad day for me.  Much like almost every person on the planet… I hate pimples.  This stick is great for drying them up right away, leaving very minimal redness.  It’s perfect to leave in your purse because you never know when those little buggers will pop up.  The application is clear and can be applied under makeup for an all day wear.  Now available at Shoppers Drug mart.

Price: $19.00

Product review: MAC Mineralize Skin finish powder

This is a luxurious domed face powder with minerals, slowly baked to provide a dimensional yet natural-matte finish. Provides perfect low coverage. Use to set and fix foundation or as a touch-up throughout the day.

Price- $30.00

I tend to stick to the same products that I’ve been using for years, especially when in comes to my face routine.  I recently purchased the ‘Erase Paste’ by Benefit and I find that the product moves around under my eyes and causes creasing mid way through the day.  I set out on a hunt to find a powder that is slightly lighter than the powder that I use on the rest of my face.  I came across this product and I’m very impressed with the lightweight coverage and longtime wear.  This is the perfect solution to setting my under eye cream concealer. I can also use it on the rest of my face in the winter months when my skin shade is lighter due to less sun exposure.  I’ve been using the Cover FX mineral powder for the past 9 years and this powder just might take it’s place. (Maybe) 🙂

Available in several shades. Try it out!
